Orion Strike Fleet FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I join the Beta Testing Team?
    • Answer: You don't. No actually it will be announced via the News Centre. When openings come available then the Secretary of Naval Defense will post a request calling for applications on the News Centre. At that time you may apply, but don't get discouraged if you don't get selected, as there will be many applications.
  2. When I have a question, who may I ask?
    • Answer: You if you are a WM then you should ask your Flight Lieutenant (FLT), if he/she isn't available then go to your Squadron Leader (SqL). One of those two should be able to answer any questions you may have. If not, they will be able to find out or direct you where to go. But first and foremost, please don't jump the Chain of Command just because they didn't get right back to you. Your question may require a day or two for research, so please be patient.
  3. When I create a new battle who do I submit it to?
    • Answer: First go to the Defense Office site and make sure your submission meets the requirements. Next submit your battle/mission package to the Secretary of Naval Defense.
  4. How do I join the Orion Strike Fleet?
    • Answer: Find the link on the left side of the site labelled Join OSF. Select that link and fill out the application. Usually within one 24 hr period you will be contacted.
  5. Okay so I've graduated the Academy how do I make my first rank?
    • Answer: You must complete the requirements for the next rank. When those are complete, if you are in a squadron, then your Squadron Leader will make the recommendation that you be promoted.
  6. What can I do to be active?
    • Answer: Well there are many things you can do starting with:
    • Flying Approved battles/mission for credit
    • Submit and article for the Strike Garrison Tribune which normally comes out bi-weekly
    • Assist your Flight Lieutenant or Squadron Leader with their duties
    • Talk on IRC. The OSF has a chat room in which your invited 24 hrs a day!
    • Create graphics
    • Make suggestions to your Squadron Leader or Commodore to make the squadron or wing better
    • Or simply send e-mail to your squadron or group area
    • These are just some things you can do to be very active. It is all decided with you, we can only suggest what to do, but your mind is limitless.

  7. Is there a place to actively talk to members?
    • Answer: Yes as a matter of fact there is. If your familiar with using IRC client programs then log on to the UnderNet servers and join the #OSF channel. From there you will be able to speak with any member there. But always remember that Rank must be viewed. If you disrespect a superior then, well you'll see.
  8. Who do I go to when I need to request leave?
    • Answer:

As always you simply have to follow the Chain of Command, sending an e-mail to your SqL should be enough to ensure you your leave of absence, obviously if your SqL is not available you will have to go straight to your Wing Commodore, the next person up in the Chain of Command.

Taking leave and telling your superior when you return will not suffice, and you may end up AWOL (Absent With Out Leave) for taking an (UA) Unauthorised Absence, meaning you will be removed from your position and placed in the reserve fleet. However, if your SqL does not process your leave you will be able to contact the suitable officer in the Chain of Command and have the problem corrected.

Always give your superior notice prior to your leave if at all possible, this will mean you are able to receive conformation of your leave and avoid problems.
