Imperial War College Presents
Basic Knowledge Aptitude Course Ver. 1.6 (BKAC)
Forward:
This course manual and course test were created by Grand Admiral Venom and CPT Zaxx Ryder. From here on out OSF takes place of Orion Strike Fleet. All people references will be designated (he) for generic gender purposes, not to impose on women in the OSF.
Brief Summary:
OSF is an organization based on Star Wars game platforms. The OSF runs its organization
based on an Imperialistic Military Structure. Where all decisions are made
final by the
Commander in Chief unless otherwise delegated. The CNC controls all aspects of the OSF and its
overall operation.
The CNC's rank designator is that of Grand Admiral. The position the Grand Admiral holds, Commander
in Chief, is the highest possible position within the OSF and is reserved for the Grand Admiral
only. The absolute highest possible rank one can obtain in a command position or any position
with the OSF is Lord, and this rank is usually reserved for the SFO - Secretary
of Fleet Operations. However, it may be given
to an exceptional member and only by the CNC.
The CNC appoints all command staff positions to personnel who
show exceptional qualities and capabilities normally deemed fit for command staff
positions. There are a total of (10) ten personnel that make up the command staff, each
with their own respective duties. Almost all command staff personnel will have a good
working knowledge of how the OSF's day to day operations run. The Secretary of
Fleet
Operations is responsible for assigning Flag Line Officers, as well as new recruits after the
completion of their training.
The SFD - Secretary of Fleet Defense is the one that receives, reviews and approves all new battle or
mission submissions for fleet use. You can find information pertaining to the submission and
construction of new battles or missions or any other pertinent info regarding the defense office
from the main fleet website under the defense office link.
There are several ships assigned to the OSF. All ships are stationed to a Battle Group, which are the heart and sole of the Strike Fleet. There is Battle Group 1 and 3 other groups, which make up the OSF. Battle Group 1, has the main Flagship and then there is the Reserve Group and the Beta Test Group each with 1 capitol ship, the last group is the Training Group which has a Platform with 2 squadrons of recruits.
The Main Fleet
In the AW There is a total of 2 groups, which make up the AWBG. The Main Battle Group, starting with BG 1, which houses the Flagship of the Fleet named: Imperial Star Destroyer II Chimaera. Along with the Flagship there are several other capitol ships which make up Battle Group I, BG II's Flagship is the VSD Vanguard. BG III is the last Group which only consists of the Training Platform Guardian. There is a lone Capitol ship parked in the back, which is unavailable at the moment, called the ISD Firescream, and is considered an Elite ship. This ship houses the Elite which are considered Special Forces units of the OSF with a total of (6) squadrons.
The VSD has been modified to hold a wing of starfighters but currently not in use, which will be amended when the fleet grows in numbers. Each Marauder Class corvette has (1) squadron each. To break it down even farther the main Battle Group at its peak will be comprised of (1) ISD II with (6) squadrons of fighters, (6) M/CRV's with a single (1) squadron of starfighters each. A squadron is the smallest group allowed to operate independently from the main fleet. Broken down even farther a squadron consists of (12) twelve pilots. Of the (12) twelve pilots, two of the positions are for the Squadron Leader (SQL) and a Flight Lieutenant (FLT) and the rest are for the wingmen (WMN). Each squadron is also broken down to (2) flight groups (6) pilots each.
Each Battle Group with the exception of Battle Group V (not shown), has a total compliment of 120 flight personnel. By normal standards (6) squadrons make up a wing and commanded by a Wing Commodore. In reference to the structure of the OSF, each Battle Group has (1) Wing, except Battle Groups 2 and 3 which houses only 2 squadrons each respectfully, and are run by separate Wing Commodores, regardless of the fact that they have 2 squadrons each. Starting with the main ship of the Fleet, a ISD II Chimaera has (1) Wing with (6) MCRV's and (6) squadrons, then dropping to (2) MCRV's and (2) squadrons on the smaller Capitol ships, called VSD's. Each VSD has (2) squadrons which makes up a Wing of their own. This is organized in such a fashion, to allow each Battle Group to operate independently of the main fleet.
The main ship of the OSF is the Imperial Star Destroyer II Chimaera and is the Flagship of the Fleet. Each capitol ship within the fleet is commanded by a Commodore (designated SCOM). All Battle Groups are commanded by the Chief of Naval Operations (designated CNO). The CNO is responsible for all capitol ships and all squadrons attached. The CNO's main responsibility is to report to the Secretary of Fleet Operations, who's responsibility is mostly administrative, and who reports to the CNC.
The Battle Group Chain of Command
Starting with the lowest level all the way to the top position of Grand Admiral , there is a Chain of Command that exists for the benefit of the organization. This CoC helps keep things in an orderly fashion. Properly utilized it can help you greatly. Listed below are the positions within the CoC:
| Imperial Navy | Imperial Marines |
| Secretary of Fleet Operations - (SFO) | Same as Navy |
| Chief of Naval Operations - (CNO) | Chief of Marines Operations - (CMO) |
| Ship Commodore - (SCOM) | Platoon Commander - (PCO) |
| Wing Commodore - (WCOM) | Platoon Executive Officer - (PXO) |
| Squadron Leader - (SQL) | Squad Commander - (SQCO) |
| Flight Lieutenant - (FLT) | Squad Executive Officer - (SQXO) |
| WingMan - (WMN) | Squad Member - (SQM) |
| Navy Cadet - (FCD) - Member in training | Marine Cadet - (MCD) - Member in training |
This shows the steps from the lowest level, the Cadet all the way to the lower highest level, Command Staff Flag (COMSTAF), which is normally the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) or Chief of Marines Operations (CMO). This is the heart of the routing of messages or urgent traffic within the CoC. Beyond that is the Command Staff (COMSTA). As stated earlier there are (10) ten members who handle the upper level administration. They are:
These members will rarely be directly contacted by lower level Line Officers. Only those in the (COMSTAF) can be in direct contact, as they may need to speak with them in the event of an absence of their immediate superior. Which is highly unlikely.

E-mail or E-Message traffic is the primary means of communication within the Orion Strike Fleet. When sending one of these type of messages to fleet personnel the following codes should be used to determine the priority of the response:
Examples are:
At a later time these may be upgraded to suit various forms of e-mail or e-message within the OSF. Please when sending info, use the codes added to the subject line of the e-mail or e-message.
OSF Meetings and Chat rooms:
Members of the OSF and various BG Commodores, COMSTA, COMSTAF, and or general chat can be found on IRC on the undernet at Channel #OSF. Other commanders, squadrons, BG's, will eventually have their own channel rooms for their meetings. It is important to know that there are several rules that applies to these rooms and or channels.
Currently the OSF Laws section of the website listed the rules and regs that are to be followed while in any OSF related channels. There will eventually be a guideline and a set of standard rules that will be upheld while in any OSF related channel whether officially or unofficially.
