Cheating Regulations and Guidelines

Listed here are the Regulations and Guidelines for our No Cheating policy. Unfortunately there will be a time where someone will decide to edit their pilots file. And they will get caught. Some people will do this to make their score better for say like competitions. Well, this illegal act is unaccepted and will be dealt with administratively. The regulations are here for everyone's purpose, to be read and understood by all. This is necessary to ensure that each and every member of the OSF or any other sub-group knows where they stand should they decide to deviate from this standard.

Results from Cheating

First off I'd like to start of with showing the regulation you will be charged with if caught committing the illegal act of cheating. If in fact you are caught cheating (i.e. editing a pilot file) you will be charged under the OSF Laws (Reg.5) Falsifying an application, official documents, and or submitted files.) This will automatically get your service record pulled until a board is convened and a investigation is completed. And if convicted, you will face a Courts-Martial, and the following will be the results: debarment from the OSF and or any sub-groups, You will be stripped 2 grades of rank.

Or you could just be administratively removed from your current position with a one grade reduction. This cheating regulation and the OSF Laws are there for your information to review frequently and understand what your allowed to do in certain situations circumstances. Now listed below will be the guidelines for what you can and can't do.

The Editing of a members Pilot File

There are many ways to edit a pilots file, and there are several approved game platform editors available that can allow you to do this as they also allow you to create new missions and or battles. However, this does not condone the use of the editors to illegally edit a pilot file and will in no way be accepted by this office or any Command Staff member. If you use any editor to increase the score of your pilots file by adding ship kills, points, or fixing the bonus scores in order to get a high score for whatever reason, and are caught you will be charged.

Passing or Skipping Missions

You will eventually come across a battle/mission with a major bug, which may prevent you from continuing on with the battle or mission testing. In this case you will be authorized to skip the faulty mission in order to continue with the beta testing, in the case of any free single mission this is not authorized. In either case you must notify your immediate chain of command about the skipping of a mission (while beta testing only) and then you are to submit a bug report to the SND. You should never have to worry about the editing of a mission name, since each battle will be uniquely named as not to interfere with original mission naming done by Lucas Arts when they programmed the game.

Editing Missions within a Battle

In no case is it authorized for a member of the Fleet to edit a mission just because it doesn't work the way its supposed to. This must be reported to the SND as a bug report. Using an editor to fix an authorized OSF Battle is not condoned and considered illegal. At any time if the battle or mission you have downloaded from the Battle Centre has a faulty mission and its found that you have edited in order to continue the battle in order to gain a high score or just to complete the battle or mission you will be charged with the regulation as stated above under the "Results for Cheating". It is recommended that you just download another authorized battle/mission and fly it while awaiting the correction to the faulty battle/mission.

The Shooting of Imperial Craft (Ours)

There are ways in some cases to gain a higher score by shooting your own (Imperial) crafts within the mission. This is not prohibited, although its not really looked at in a good sense and could be construed as cheating. In TIE Fighter you will lose 10,000 points for shooting friendly craft, and it may be possible that the mission flown will have enough enemy craft to make the offset even, it is not tolerated. If you just happen to kill a friendly (Imperial) craft who flew in front of you while doing mission ops, will be tolerated, but to belligerently shoot them is not.

Using Invulnerability and Unlimited Weapons

Using this option is not forbidden, and by no means considered cheating as far as the rules are concerned. As you may use this while flying any of the Strike Garrison approved battles/missions. As a reminder that when this is done your overall score gets reduced upto 90%. This is automatic and is inherent in the program.

File swapping or sharing of Pilot Files between Pilots:

Is not authorized period. Under no circumstances may any pilot offer to another pilot their pilot files in order to allow them gain credit for flying the approved battle/mission. Especially if they are a new recruit. If it is found that a situation of this nature is uncovered, then both members will be sent to a Courts-Martial for cheating.

Re-Flying of Battles/Missions

There is nothing in the rules that state you can't re-fly any approved battle/mission. Especially if your doing this to get an increased score of trying to gain a high score. However, if the pilots file you submit is found that its was an edited file or one from the combat chamber, it will not be accepted and you might be charged with falsifying a pilot file. Then please refer to the Cheating article located with in the OSF Laws.

Beta Testing

All beta testers must turn in a pilots file for their test review. But under no circumstances will a pilots file be accepted for submission to count as credit for flying the battle/mission. Reason is this, the beta testers just fly the new battle/mission submission for review and make a report on the battle/mission. Once this is complete the beta corrections team will edit and fix any errors that are found. Because of this reason the battle/mission maybe changed in some manner and maybe totally different in relation to what the beta tester originally tested. Just by the beta testers review, report, and submitted test file will be enough for credit. In order for the beta testers or corrections team to get full credit they must download and re-fly the battle/mission once approve by the SND.
